Hier heeft Helene vanuit haar werkkamer over de vijver gestaard\, kijkend naar al wat ze heeft gebouwd\, en al wat ze heeft verloren\, tussen de dag dat ze geboren werd\, en de dag dat ze stierf.” \nHelene is dood. Bij haar kist staan haar man Anton\, drie van haar vier kinderen\, een paar kleinkinderen\, haar zielsverwant Sam en wat personeelsleden. Vermoedelijk… misschien ook niet. Helene wilde in ieder geval géén muziek en géén toespraken. Maar als de aanwezigen wel hadden mogen spreken\, dan was het zo gegaan! \nVijf acteurs\, twee dansers\, een koor en een muzikant pogen in het gedachtegoed van Helene Kröller-Müller een ode te brengen aan de kunst. \nWaar ik mijn hart aan ophang is een voorstelling over een bijzondere vrouw die liever tegen haar schilderijen praatte dan tegen mensen van vlees en bloed. Over hoge verwachtingen en grote teleurstellingen. Over op zoek zijn naar houvast\, om iets te hebben wat het waard is om voor te leven. Over alleen zijn.
